NAME? Mike Chilvers AKA 'Chilly'
AGE? 41, happily married to Sarah for
21 years, 3 children - Richard 18yrs, Barry 16yrs, Caitlin 8yrs.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE? North Norfolk
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING? I'm the
M.D. of Chilvers Builders Ltd, when I am not skiving off to go flying.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN FLYING? I started
Paramotoring in 2005, and have never looked back. I always knew that I
wanted to fly, but Paramotoring is even better than just flying, It?s
like joining another big family and have made many new friends from all
around the world, in such a short time.
WHAT DO YOU FLY? I currently fly the
superb 'Plasma' competition wing from Dudek Paragliders, and the Jabbair
MK II Prototype Paramotor.
WHAT IS YOUR JOB IN THE TEAM? To score
points, and bring home some Gold....
HAVE YOU ANY PREVIOUS COMPETITION EXPERIENCE?
My first competition was the 2006 UK nationals, where I won the best newcomer
award. I was invited to join the team for the 2006 European Championship
in Spain, where as a team we won the bronze medal. I entered the 2007
French Championships in southern France to prepare for my last competition
which was the 2007 UK nationals where I was delighted to finish in 4th
position.
WHAT'S THE MOST FUN YOU HAVE HAD FLYING:
Difficult to answer, as all flying is the most fun ever, however winning
my first task in the Slow/Fast task in the 2007 Nationals was a great
feeling, even if I had to share it with Michel Carnet !
WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING PART OF BEING IN
THE BRITISH TEAM 2007? Being selected to represent your country
on this level is a great honour, and to be flying with some very talented
and fun team mates will make this a very special time, even more special
when we bring back the gold as a team.
GIVE US SOME DIRT ON ONE OF YOUR PALS IN THE
BRITISH TEAM: Well, just hope I don't get to share a hotel room
with Dave, who could get the gold medal award for snoring alone !
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW
ABOUT YOU?Ahh, now that'd be telling wouldn't it! Suffice to say
that I usually achieve what I set out to do, and this time, it?s to help
get gold for the team
