NAME? Laura Beaumont

AGE? 28

WHERE DO YOU LIVE? Haslemere, in Surrey.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING? I am a Radiotherapist. I plan and prepare treatment for people undergoing radiotherapy. I work in St Lukes Cancer Centre in Guildford.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN FLYING? I used to try flying down the stairs when I was little, but I have been flying paragliders since 2004 and paramotors for 9 months!!

WHAT DO YOU FLY? My Paramotor and my paraglider

WHAT IS YOUR JOB IN THE TEAM? Being the only female pilot in the (paramotor) squad. More importantly as the only girlie I need to dilute a bit of the testosterone amongst the other team members!!

HAVE YOU ANY PREVIOUS COMPETITION EXPERIENCE? I marshalled in the 2006 UK Nationals, and loved it that much that I bought a machine so that I could
compete in 2007.

WHAT'S THE MOST FUN YOU HAVE HAD FLYING: I love every time my feet leave the ground!! Flying for the first time in my local field with friends and being
joined in the sky by hot air balloons (see photo!) still makes me smile.

WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING PART OF BEING IN THE BRITISH TEAM 2007? Being in
the team is exciting in itself. I am living my dream. I can't wait to be working together and flying alongside some of the top guys (and girls!) in the sport.

GIVE US SOME DIRT ON ONE OF YOUR PALS IN THE BRITISH TEAM: No! They probably have more
dirt on me than I have on them. And I will have to sit on a 9 hour flight with them to China!!

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU? : I know how to say 'spoon' in chinese. Believe me, it is a very handy word in China.
